<p align="start"><b>Washington, DC (02 November 2009)</b> –
Alaska residents have launched a petition drive that could make the
state
the first in the nation to recognize human rights for all human
beings. <br>
<br>
Personhood Alaska
sponsor Christopher Kurka is coordinating the drive to get 30,000
Alaska
voters to sign the petition before it appears on the
ballot. <br>
<br>
The personhood movement seeks to recognize all human beings from
the biological beginning of their development as persons and as such,
entitled to equal protection under the law. Alaska is the eighth state
to
launch a campaign for a personhood amendment to the state constitution.<br>
<br>
The other states are Missouri, California, Colorado, Florida,
Montana, Michigan and Nevada.<br>
<br>
“America’s last
frontier could be America’s first state to recognize human rights for
all,” said Judie Brown, president of American Life League.
“This amendment campaign is a historic step toward real social
justice in Alaska and the nation.”<br>

of the bishops’ Committee on Pro-life Activities; Bishop John Wester of
Salt Lake City, chair of the Committee on Migration; and Bishop William
Murphy of Rockville, Centre, New York, chair of the Committee on
Domestic Justice and Human Development urged fellow bishops to promote

recoil at any expansion of abortion," said Helen Osman, USCCB Secretary

ultraportable and user-friendly Vscan, an ultrasound machine about the

of a large flip phone. Dubbing it "the stethoscope of the 21st
century," the company offered various scenarios in which the device
could
vastly advance the landscape of diagnostics. </small>
<p class="heading"><small>For pro-lifers on the front lines, the new
gadget could
hugely improve abortion-bound women's access to ultrasounds, which have
been found highly effective in helping mothers choose life for their
baby.
In the past, the sheer size of the devices has given pro-lifers a
