*Absurd: PP blames abstinence education for rise in teen pregnancy*

The Guttmacher Institute, Planned Parenthood's "independent" research
arm, just released figures showing an increase in the teen pregnancy
rate for the first time in 15 years. Planned Parenthood absurdly blames
<http://ss.all.org/link.php?M=110638&N=622&L=4242&F=H> abstinence-only
education (vs. PP style sex education) for the increase. A look at the
timeline and Planned Parenthood's lobbying to cut abstinence education
-- even as the teen pregnancy rate was steadily declining --- shows the
absurdity of PP's claims.

- Prior to the 1990's, teen pregnancy rates were soaring, while Planned
Parenthood's sex-education programs were dominating public and even
private school sex-education courses.

- In the early 1990's, it became popular to teach the abstinence message
to teens and preteens. Teen pregnancy rates predictably began to fall.

- But by 2000, Planned Parenthood began lobbying the various states to
refuse abstinence money and reduce abstinence programs, and in 2006 the
teen pregnancy rate increased for the first time in 15 years.

- Now Planned Parenthood, through its lobbying, has succeeded in
virtually cutting off abstinence-without-birth-control funds while it
grabs bigger and bigger portions of government funding to perpetuate its
miserably failed programs.

The bottom line is always money when it comes to Planned Parenthood.
There is no money to be made by Planned Parenthood off of kids who
abstain from sex. They don't need birth control, they don't get STD's
that need to be treated, they don't get pregnant so they don't pay for
abortions. PP has a vested financial interest in insuring teens become
and remain sexually active. The "non-profit" abortion giant recorded
$85 million in profits in the fiscal year 2007-2008.

STOPP provides the book Parent Power to guide you in defeating Planned
Parenthood sex education in your community. It is available online free

The crisis of leadership at the Bishops' Conference is reaching epic proportions. A mountain of evidence is being revealed that the money of faithful Catholics is being funneled to dozens of groups that fight against the truth of Christ promoting abortion and homosexuality.

*Over 30 States Push to Establish Personhood for Unborn*

Three additional states have taken up the "personhood" cause in a push
to guarantee the constitutional rights of the preborn. Iowa, Virginia
and Kansas are now among more than 30 states pursuing personhood
amendments -- a move pro-lifers view as their best chance of ending
abortion in the U.S. "Personhood is a revolution of the pro-life
movement," said Keith Mason, co-founder of Personhood USA, in a
statement. "It challenges what's been done in the past, stimulates the
movement's present, and eradicates the need for pro-life efforts in the
future. Personhood is the best hope to end abortion in America."

Abortion foes are promising to continue their protest over a proposed
Fitchburg Planned Parenthood office. Officials of Planned Parenthood
League of Massachusetts are scheduled Tuesday to present their plan for
the proposed office to the Fitchburg City Council. But the group Mass
Citizen for Life is vowing to crowd the meeting with abortion foes to
express their opposition. Last week, around 70 to 80 pro-life advocates
protested and prayed in front of the proposed site. Jesse Mermell, vice
president of external relations at Planned Parenthood League of
Massachusetts, said the organization plans to open the Fitchburg office
with federal grant money.

*VIRGINIA DELEGATE PRESENTS HUMAN 'PERSONHOOD' BILL*

*Washington, DC (02 February 2010)* -- /The following is a statement
from American Life League President Judie Brown on the progress of
Virginia House Bill 112 introduced by Delegate Bob Marshall./

"American Life League proudly stands with Delegate Bob Marshall in his
effort to recognize and restore human personhood and basic human rights
to all human beings.

"Virginia has the opportunity to be the first state in the union to
fulfill the dream of the civil rights movement with common sense
legislation that extends basic rights to every Virginian.

"Unfortunately, threatened by bureaucracy and political maneuvering,
HB112 may never get a chance to be voted on by Virginia's elected
representatives despite support from thousands of Virginians.

"American Life League calls on all members of Virginia's House of
Delegates, especially Delegate Dave Albo, chair of the House Courts of
Justice Committee, and Speaker of the House Bill Howell, to give the
bill a public hearing and "motion to report HB112 to the full House" so
that it can be voted on by the representatives of Virginia's citizens.

"The November 2009 elections were overwhelmingly won by candidates who
took pro-life positions. The time is now for these delegates to prove
their position and vote in favor of human rights, civil rights, and the
personhood of every human being."

*Too Few Doctors*
by Chivers-Wilson, Calgary Herald, Jan 28. 2010

Ms Chivers-Wilson laments the lack of doctors willing to perform
abortions and seems to imply that this will result in a rise of
"unsafe" procedures. Only three questions come to mind: unsafe for
whom, as abortion always results in someone's demise? Is Ms Chivers not
aware of the rise of supposedly "safe" clinically provided botched
abortions? Does she intend to remove the rights of conscience from
medical professionals who may oppose abortion for ethical, medical or
religious reasons?

It is ironic that while the world mourns the loss of life in Haiti, our
small-minded pro-choice movement should fixate on how to grant better
access to the taking of innocent life!
